2003 Deer, Fall Turkey, Elk, Antelope Permit Application Periods Set
The permit application periods for Nebraska's 2003 deer, fall turkey, elk and antelope hunting seasons were recently set by the Game and Parks Commission.
Hunters should use the following timetable for applying for this year's permits:
Period 1: April 14 - 30
Residents may apply for one permit in units which are considered 'Draw' units. Applicants that were not issued a permit for any unit designated as Draw units in the previous year will be given preference.
Period 2: Beginning May 12
Residents only may apply for a first permit in a unit designated as a 'Buy' unit or may purchase a first statewide archery or muzzleloader permit. Eligible resident landowners may apply.
Period 3: Beginning June 9
Residents who have not yet obtained a first permit including those who were unsuccessful in obtaining a 'Draw' unit permit may apply for a first permit in any unit subject to availability.
Period 4: Beginning July 14
Nonresidents may apply for a first permit in any unit subject to availability, including statewide archery and muzzleloader. Eligible nonresident landowners may apply for limited permits.
Period 5: Beginning Aug. 11
Residents and nonresidents may apply for a second permit in any unit subject to availability including statewide archery and muzzleloader.
Period 6: Beginning Aug. 25
Residents and nonresidents may apply for remaining permits subject to availability and within permit limits.
Period 1: Beginning Aug. 11
Residents only, including landowners, may apply for a first permit.
Period 2: Beginning Sept. 8
Nonresidents may apply for their first permit from any remaining permits.
Period 3: Beginning Sept. 22
Residents and nonresidents may apply for a second permit.
Antelope and Elk
Period 1: Apr. 14 - 30
Any resident or nonresident landowner may apply for an antelope or elk permit during this period.
Period 2: Beginning June 9
Remaining antelope permits available to residents, nonresidents and resident landowners. Remaining elk permits available to residents and resident landowners only.
