Nice pictures of some good times and happy hunters.

Wild upland bird hunting here in Michigan hasn't been very good for many years now.

I'm not counting the put-n-take preserves.

I don't know if it's still the effects of the DDT situation from many years ago or not.

I suspect that the amount of predators has a LOT to do with it.

We are getting overrun with coyotes here.

The DNR doesn't seem to think so, but ask any hunter, and you'll hear stories of seeing many more tracks than ever before, piles of feathers in the woods, and plenty of sightings of coyotes themselves - something that you NEVER used to hear about.

Add to the coyotes all the racoons, possums, skunks, etc, and there are just too many critters that eat bird eggs for the bird population to ever get back to a decent level.

The turkeys are an exception - they are increasing in population like wildfire!

20 years ago, we hardly ever saw a turkey anywhere in the state.

Today they are everywhere!

Thanks for the good pictures.
