I was able to locate a new lease for 2011 - I am tired of the big clubs and some of the hassles that go along with them - so for a few years now, I have been on a quest to find a piece of property to lease - that I can enjoy with a few friends.
I had a few requirements - it should be private land (not timber company), it should have long term possibilities, it should varying types of habitat, it must have a place to camp, it must have water, it should support food plots and hopefully have some agriculture on the lease or nearby.
I scouted this property in late spring of 2010 and have been back a few times since then to look it over... I cannot scout during hunting season because it is currently leased. The current hunters are losing the lease because they will not pay on time.
Best move I made was to take my wife with me the first time I met the owner - he and my wife Jo hit it off right away - great news!
I am all set to start working the place on 1 JAN 2011... I have many stand locations already picked out...
Here are some photos of the place - let me know what you think!
