These photos of an albino mule deer were taken in October of 2006, south of Meeker Colorado. We were hoping he would make it through all the hunting seasons - and he appeared to, then during the rut he was hit on the highway.
It is a bummer that deer ended up getting hit on the highway. I imagine he had to be a little more elusive than his buddies just to make it as long as he did.
A few years ago, my dad had some albino and piebald does in his area. I do not know if we ever remembered to take any pictures, but it was cool to see. You could see these animals for miles away. We hoped that no hunters ever shot them, just because it was cool seeing them out there running around.
That's correct, he was not a true total albino, but pretty darn close. I thought his little bit of color around the ears, above his eyes and spot on the back were very good looking. I don't know if anyone did anything with him after he was hit on the road. It would be neat to see him mounted.
That is definitely cool. I don't think he is a true albino because he does have a couple of brown spots on him. I think he would be considered a piebald.
