There was a alert last year that there was a suspicous vehical with 4 city type
guys cruising the logging roads looking for Bears..we saw them in a new Durango. We followed them and they left.

They sell a bowl of Bear Paw soup for $1500. we were told.....

In BC we have to remove the meat of a black Bear from The bush. We feel good about this , because it is important to our clients what happens to the meat. We take 30 Bears a year and we have a use for most of it.

The Resident Hunting Group , was suggesting that we go back to leaving the meat in the bush ! We are strongly opposed to this.

What are other State laws about this..?

In SK Bear is the only game animal you are allowed to leave the meat in the field. In NS and Ont you have to take it.

I like the idea that the meat has to come out. Before that the leif lickers found one Outfitters pile of Bear carcuseses...it almost stopped Bear hunting in BC. Now Grizzly is still aloowed to be left..

,,,as in Leaf ?

Got it.

Well, I don't lick leaves, but if I came upon a pile of bear carcass’s I'd be pissed right off....and I would want it to stop too.

While I am no trophy hunter, I do support Outfitting....and, further, I would imagine that the last thing in the world an Outfitting company would want to have in the public eye is a pile of rotting bears...I mean...the optics of that just suck !

I'm not convinced that the majority of avid hunters here in the Yukon would tolerate that scenario either....it ain't just the Leaf Lickers who would move to shut that down right now.

I believe that the Bear carcuses were found on Vancouver Island....Does that ring a bell ? No, we as a Guide Association do not support leaving the meat. On the other hand, the resident Hunter group have made moves towards it. We have blocked them so far.

I believe that the Yukon would be allowed to leave Grizzly meat...?

The CFB base is not too far from us...it's in the Mary Lake area and we are just down the Carcross Rd. Pretty close to Whitehorse....but still out in the country.

Ya....Atlin is great...and B.C. !!

I focus primarily on caribou and moose...I've seen some great sheep but never taken the shot...the freezer is generally full with moose, caribou, fish, ducks, geese, grouse, rabbits....

some day I'll head out for sheep...seems the thing to do....

anyway, Happy New Year !

cheers
