why cant the fishngame just shut the hunt down for a year. north, northeast, and central are struggling with the deer so the DWR shuts the central unit down early that is fine BUT WHY ARE THEY STILL GIVING DOE TAGS FOR THE SAME UNIT THAT THEY ARE SHUTTING DOWN THOSE DOE'S WILL PRODUCE NEXT YEARS BUCKS my thoughts are the fish and game cant loose or take inn a smaller amount of money than the year before it is all a money game to them if the deer is hurting shut it down like HNRY MOUNTAINS OR THE BOOKCLIFF OR THE VERNON UNITS. they should just close down one of those units and rotate it this year central next year north and next northeast, i would give up two years of hunting for a shutdown and so would the next hunter its the DWR that will not give up the ol mity dollar to help the deer heards. it is up to us the hunter dont shoot the first little buck you see and please dont shoot a doe or a cow elk they are the ones that can bring back your bucks and bulls. this is a very touchy subject to me because utah hunting is turning into a money sport!

You sound a little like me. I carry rocks around in my pockets when I am on my wheeler just in case I see a little buck to throw at him. It is always interesting that when you talk to a hunter that has a small buck on there wheeler or truck and he is complaining that there are no big bucks in the area, and then you ask them where they suppose big bucks come from they just give you a goofy look?

It was interesting out in the Book Cliffs when it was 3 pt or better, you saw bucks all over the place big 2 and 3 pt deer along with some nice 4 pointers. Then when they opened it up to any buck it was carnage. Every wheeler had a spike or 2 pt on it. A few years later they closed it to get the deer to come back. I talked to a DOW man the year before they close it and he said it was because of no water. I asked him if he had hiked down into the canyons and he said no. The water was flowing and the grass was 4' high. Sometimes I don't think that they have a clue.

On a side note for the opening some people need to take note that 5 or 6 areas do not open until Wednesday the 21st for their 5 day hunts.

I think they should cut the tags in half and just charge double that way they get the same amount of money for less tags. I know i would pay double for a better managed deer herd

what i would like to find out is where is all the money going there just like the gov and are taxes are gov wants more and more and we wonder where is all of are tax money going,i think the same way on the DWR tags have doubled in price and they are getting big bucks for the conservation tags. any way if they did something like state wide 3 point or better and only let 18 and younger kill 3point and smaller it just might help some of the issue's we have but we as hunters should not buy cow and doe tags look at the past they keep raising the permits I would not even mind if they let muzz spike hunters have either sex choice and maybe let half the rifle spike hunters kill cow or spike but NO MORE JANUARY AND FEBRUARY COW HUNTS THEY HAVE NEXT YEARS BULLS IN THEM. I know a guy that shot a cow up spanishfork and when they cleaned it there was a young calf and he said it made him sick, and he will not hunt for cows any more I also know another guy he has 3 boys and his wife all five of them have late cow tags what the hell are you going to do with 5 elk that is a little excessive to me.
