Can anyone provide info about hunting in GMUs 007, 008, 009, 019 and 191 in Colorado? There are several leftovers available there. thanks!

Sometimes there's no good explanation for why some tags have leftovers, as they should be known as a better unit and be in higher demand. However, that is certainly not the case with 7,8,9,19,191. They were part of an experiment, which has now ended, to see if reducing the populations of elk and deer would decrease the transmission rate of CWD. So the deer and elk populations are about 30-50% of what the DOW wants them at. It's gonna take a few years to recover.
Since you're asking, I'm gonna assume you aren't a local, and would or should know about 9 and 191. 9 has no public land, 191 has very little public land and is best left for the locals. There are a couple of spots with larger public holdings, but it is generally very checkerboarded and not something I'd recommend for someone of the area.
7,8 and 19 are a different story. The game densities still suck, but the public land situation is much better. Access is generally very good and hunting pressure isn't that bad. First season has a lot to recommend in that there are no cow hunters and no deer hunters, assuming you were asking in regards to elk. The point is, there aren't many people to compete with at that time. However, because there are usually deer and elk leftovers, you may want to consider have a tag for each, just to increase your otherwise bad odds. There are large wilderness areas and large blocks of roadless lands outside the wilderness boundaries that make the hunting fairly pleasant, except for the whole not seeing much game thing.

Thanks exbiologist for the information. I am local and live in Lakewood, but for various reasons, I have not been able to hunt in CO for the last couple of years. I moved here from GA about three years ago and hunted a lot there. I have a buddy, and he and I are wanting to hunt here this year, but we are going to have to get a leftover license. With that said, we are looking for Mulies and have no idea what areas would be good with leftover licenses. Any help you can provide would be great since we are not familiar with the area. He has been here about the same amount of time and has yet to hunt either. I appreciate your help!

As for good mulie licenses available as leftovers? Good areas don't usually hit the leftover stage. I found only one unit available that I rate in the top 30. This probably isn't your year for a good deer tag, lots of cutbacks due to the 07 winterkill being fully realized. Get an OTC elk tag and don't worry about the deer too much this year. Or get a deer tag for unit 27/181 or unit 33 deer tag, and get an OTC elk license with it. Both of those are good deer tags.

Don't forget the vast over the counter tags for unlimited areas!!

I have a great area for Unlimited Archery Antelope that starts Saturday, August 15th!!!!
