Is a switchblade knife any more dangerous than a standard lock-back folding hunting knife? I've never believed so. In fact these days the lines distiguishing a hunting knife from a tactical type knife are completely blurred. For field dressing I prefere to own and use a well designed hunting style lock-back knife. However I do carry on a regular basis a Benchmade 710 tactical knife, but it's just an every day tool for me. I once asked one of my cop friends why only LE and Military can legally buy these knives, but they are off limits to the average citizen. His reply: I really don't know. A knife is a knife. In the wrong hands it's no different than anything else.
It's like I've always said, anything can be dangerous and cause death, injury, and damage if placed in the wrong hands. A quick trip to any hardware store will prove my point. How long until the government decides they need to barge into my garage and my shed to confiscate all my hand and power tools? How long until we are no longer allowed to own and use knives in the kitchen? How long until the government decides that we are too irresponsible to own hammers, saws, screwdrivers, prybars, etc??? How much of these restrictions to everyday life is the public going to tolerate from big daddy government. Personal computer I'm convinced has been the foremost tool being used today in the hands of criminals that had assisted in the committing of some of the most serious life changing crimes within the past 20 years or so. Even more so today. Is anyone making a motion to outlaw and ban personal computers? No and we shouldn't. Anything can be dangerous when placed in the wrong hands. Anything!!! That includes laws and legislation in the hands of over zelous lawyers, judges, and politicians. |
