October 2003 Poll:

Biggest reason a hunter comes home empty handed...

Like most endeavors, hunting is an activity where you can learn not just from your success but from your failures.

In your experience, what is the biggest reason you or other hunters have come home empty handed?

The options explained:

No game seen: You have to see them to hunt them.

Game out of range: You have to get in range even if you see them.

Missed shot: Oops...

Equipment failure: Miss-fire, bullet performance, jammed safety, scope broke, etc...

Bad weather: Hunting in blizzards is dangerous.

Other: Everything else.

Not seeing the trophy that you wanted to see or was hoping for. A meat hunt is fairly easy to fill in most cases, however, the trophy that you have set your goals on may not come along.

During deer season I see a lot, and I mean a lot of does, I always pass on them till the last day/s of the hunt. Sometimes it means no kill, not a big deal.
