I am quite confused about how the hunter choice option is supposed to lower the number of 1 1/2 yr old bucks. Any hunter that wants to go out and shot a buck and doesn't care so much about the number of pionts will still be able to do that. And any hunter that wanted to hunt for a big buck could do that with the old regulations. Can anyone tell me how this new regulation is going to change anything?
The only thing I can see is different is that the State of Michigan will lose alot of money. Many times I have bought the combination license, which is $30, and allowed one buck of any size and one buck with 4 or more pionts to a side. I would hunt for any buck that I could find. I have only once shot a deer with 4 pionts to a side. Obviously I do not care so much about the number of pionts and if I could I would always shot a doe in archery season. Now for this season I will buy the one license that allows the buck of any size, which I assume will be $15, or at least half of the price of the hunters choice option. Thus the State of Michigan will lose out on $15 from me and many other hunters like me.
Still confused.....
