The Ghost Town Village of West Jefferson that houses nothing, but empty run down businesses is proposing to lease this land from ODNR to maintain this land. The Village cannot maintain it's current state and it's financial resources come from overtaxing it's residents who pay income tax in both the community they work and where they live without a credit. Considering Frankin County Metroparks has the experience necessary to preserve wild life and the natural environment, I fear that if West Jefferson had their hands in the pot, this would be a big mistake. Frankly, the unimproved trails and fishing access has already been created over the years by local residents whom the Village has actively involved themselves in getting the residents kept out from utilizing the land. It is my sincere hope that the proposed lease that I read in my local Madison Messenger this past week, does not get approved and that the land remains maintained by experienced, educated, responsible organizations. |
