Virginia has been very concerned over CWD for several years and rightly so due to the elk imported by KY for release into the wild, many of which were imported from states with known CWD problems. Like TN, KY also imported elk with less than adequate testing and monitoring. Some of the released elk have traveled across the state line into Virginia so Virginia officials have encourage their deer hunters to kill these unwelcome elk. |
