Are you concerned about CWD?

Concerned? Yes. Paranoid? Considering giving up hunting? Unwilling to eat any game meat until it has been tested? No.

I think it is foolish not to be at least a little bit "concerned" about CWD. Here in Colorado, if it expands unchecked, it has a very real possibility of eventually decimating our deer and elk herds. Even if it were absolutely proven that there is no possibility of any harm to humans from eating the meat of an infected animal, this alone would be enough reason to be "concerned." The fact that they are, at this point, uncertain exactly how it is transmitted, or whether it can be transmitted to humans, is further reason to be "concerned."

But, of course, the results of the poll will depend entirely on how people interpret the word "concerned." Some people will, no doubt, interepret this to be the same as asking if people are "afraid," or "paranoid," or some other way of looking at it. Then, too, some people probably live and hunt in areas where there is no indication at all that CWD has affected any of the game animals there. For those people, why should they be "concerned?"

Meanwhile, I'm not afraid, and I'm not paranoid, but I am just as "concerned" about CWD as I am about most of the issues that affect hunting and the game populations in my state, which to say at least "concerned" enough to pay attention and keep myself informed.

Concerned? Yes!!

Paranoid? Some may say I am, but I'm just realistically cautious. Not giving up on hunting though it does put a damper on all your efforts when you bag a deer or elk and the tests comfirm CWD. Won't eat it until it's tested and free of it.

In my observation there are always those few who are scoffed at and critisized for being careful and taking the nessesary pre-cautions, then when something really terrible happens to those people who critisized them, it's those critisizers who alway want to blame everyone else for their misfortune.

Best to be realistically cautious.

I know that CWD is in my province but Concerned about it I dont know, Ive eaten deer the last 6 years while it has been around and Ive never once heard of the disease around where I hunt or someone that has had it in thier deer. Im just wondering if the people that do get it in thier deer or pass it on to other animals take the precautions the government has passed onto them. Also was wondering why someone would even play around with the spinal column and spine when they know that thier province or state has already warned them that CWD does infact exist in thier deer pop. WHY TAKE THE CHANCE OF INFECTING OTHER DEER AND PASSING THE VIRUS ON WHEN YOU DO IN FACT HAVE IT IN YOUR DEER POP COMMON PEOPLE COMMON SENSE BE CAREFULL.
