Hey I'm from california: Merced area. I'm lost and don't know where to go. I'm not a new hunter I just havn't hunted in a while. I got my pig tag, my license and a new bow but don't know where any BLM public land is and don't know anyone who will give me access to private land. I need a map or directions, heck I just need help. Anyone I'd really appreciate it. Thanks |

I used to live in Cali, moved because of the gun laws! If I were still there, I would still be going to Fort Hunter Ligget! Its between Paso Robles & King City. Its just off of Jolon Rd! Killed many of hogs and deer there! Go luck, and also on your hunt! Otis!

Yes, That is EXACTLY where I was going to suggest. Fort Hunter Ligget is where most seem to go unless you can meet some people in the area that can give you access to private ranches in the area.
I myself live in San Juan Bautista on a 340 acre ranch and my husband and I were looking for some hunters to meet and maybe share the property with.
But if you are looking for Pigs or Deer, Fort Hunter Liggit is a great place. |

Thank you both! I have sent in my application for the permit to hunt at fort hunter ligget. I'm waiting for the opportunity to go! will let you know how it went.

If you are looking for BLM land to hunt call this old timer I met at the Sac. sport show, he makes wild pig packets of BLM maps of Califirnia with detailed notes on where to access the area and park and where to hunt. His phone # 1-805-967-4482 .The wild pig packet is about 60 pages and I think its about $25.00 I got mine 3 years ago. Good luck hope this helps |
