We got two antelope does this weekend. I was hunting with some friends who had special early season rifle tags. I only had the archery tag, and we gave em hell. This was the first time I had ever tried decoying antelope, and man it's tough. I couldn't believe the number of knuckleheads driving around the BLM just walking straight at the antelope expecting them to not run away.

Alright, alright, alright:
Rainy opening morning:

Crawling around the sage before we got Mike his doe at 260 yards with a .30-06 and 125 grain Ballistic Tips:

After we got her to the truck, Ryan took off after the herd again. Had Mike's doe fully butchered way before we saw Ryan again.

About 4 hours later, Ryan appeared on the horizon dragging this doe he took with his .325 WSM and 150 grain Speers at 330 yards.

Next day was my turn to give it a whirl flinging sharp sticks. Got pretty close a couple times, but still way out of my range.

what area were you hunting? I hunted opening weekend with my "sticks and strings" in the GMU 50 and GMU 581 areas. Had a shot at 85 yards but just missed! I wear a LOT more camo than you guys were wearing though........something to consider as Antelope have the eyesight of a human looking through 10 power binos!

that special early rifle is ONLY going on at Silver Spur Ranch utilizing a "Ranching for Wildlife" tag that was good Aug15-19........there are 12 ranches in Colorado that have their own seasons for Rifle Antelope. EVERYWHERE else must wait until October 3rd for Rifle season!!
