Hello, I'm from south eastern Australia. There have been sighting of Mountain lions and black cats with the same body type. The black cats are seen most. Sheep and Kangeroos high up in gum trees. But never a clear pic or footage.

I know of 2 roo shooter that have seen them and 1 of them is a Park Ranger.
The Goverment says they r not there but if u were to ask some farmers round here they wood tell you its a cover up. I think if the Goverment admits they are here they may have to compensate the farmers for there losses.

One person I know of is trying to trap a live one. But they dont seem to go into the traps. Just walk overthem and look in and dont go in. He doesnt want 2 shoot it.

If anyone has had a look at the link I left in my first post. Could you tell me if it does sound like Mountain Lions or do we have another type of big cat in Australia.
Have a look at the scratch marks on the cows in the footage and tell me what you think it might be.

The problem is that people see Black and Fawn coloured cats. I have never seen a black mountain lion. Saying that I have only seen them at the Melbourne Zoo, Dreamworld on the Gold Coast and Australia Zoo, and on the net.

I must also add Australia doesnt have any native cats of any type or any native hooved anamals. Dingo's arent even native they were brought here about 5000 years ago by the aborigines.

So if there are big cats in Australia then i think we need to get rid of them. But first we need to find out what they are so we can hunt them affectively. It has been left upto people like me cos the goverment wont admit they are there.

I watched the utube link you have. the scratches could be from anything including a lion. the kills however do not resemble lion kills from my part of the world anyway. I have lion hunted here in Montana for 40 years and seen lot's of lion kills. what I seen on utube looks like canine type kills to me.

Hello how are you all?

I have included a link to a webiste, by two men in my local area. They both have seen big cats in the area. They have some pix of kills.

Does anyone know what would have killed and eaten these animals in this way. Is it cats or is it wild dogs. I know that dogs make a mess when they kill so what else other than big cats kills and eats clean.
The foal is said to have had around 40kg (90lb) of meat striped from its bones.

Any information might help us find out what is doing this. People see black "panthers" also fawn and grey "puma's"

dont look like mountian lion kills at all. must be some other kind of cat if u guys are seeing cats. but typically an american mtn lion will bury his kill with something like dirt leaves grass etc. and return to it. also never seen a kill from mtn lion wear it eats the preys face it will eat at the stomach for first part... another thing a mtn lion did not attack those cows the dont attack with claws when a mtn lion attacks they jump on their prey with a single strike with jaws to the neck the prey neck with be snap and they will be dead. a mountain lion has very strong jaws and definetly enough to snap a cows neck clean in half. they wont just come scatch with claws they try killing undetected. oh and by the way mtn lions can be any color mostly they are tan but i have personally seen them almost white all the way to pure black.

The first is of a couple of kills. That to me look like they could be "cougar" kills. But im no expert.
There are more clips on that page, if ur interested. Mainly of the cats seen round the blue mountains near Sydney, but they seem to think they are Jaguars up that way. But note they are never seen with spots.
Down my way in centural Victoria west of Melbourne, they think that "cougar's" roam.

The second is of clips and interviews from round Australia.

The third is a mixture of clips and interviews from over the decaids someone has put togther.

The last clip is by a man from melboure who looks for the big cats. Some of his information might be of interest.

If we do confirm "cougars" are here you will have another place to hunt them. And the fishing is good too. Yeah and shoot some Kangeroo's while ur at it, they are good eating. LOL.
In some of the clips a black cat is stalking a roo and the cat looks small. But remember a male Eastern Grey Kangeroo can be 80kg/177lb and 6 foot tall.

What I dont understan is that most of the cats seen are Black I cant find a breed of big cat this is black through the generations. The black only comes out every now and then. The only other colour seen is tan or fawn. But like i said im no expert.

P.S If anyone has any theorys please post them. It might help out the farmers it costing them a lot. Along with the wild dogs and foxes killing stock.

Hey guys

I'm not a hunter, my boyfriend is, I was just browsing the forum for something to do and I came across this rather interesting post.

I live in South Australia and I've not once heard about any type of Big Cat living here.

I watched the you tube link you posted and also had a look at the website you posted the link for also.

I'm curious as to when all of this came about, and what's made everyone think that it's a Puma type creature that's killing the live stock.
