anyone from Scotland? Looking to take a trip over there in a couple year with the wife, looking for interesting places to visit. Dont want the typical tourist sites, dont want a "group tour" of any kind. Looking for more of the "out of the way" places to visit and see.
Also was curious on how the bird and small game hunting is over there?

Thanks for any info folks,
WiskeyJaR

Hi, There is a lot to do in Scotland that is away from the tourist places! I'd most certainly advice against a 'group tour'! There is no problem with doing, for example, a 3-10 day hike in the hills without seeing a soul.

If you give me some more info on what kind of stuff you are interested in I could help more.

As pertains small game. You'll need to get an ok from a landowner. Have a look at http://www.basc.org.uk /

Cheers,

Scotland is my every December destination.
I hunted deer and smallgame . The overall idea : expensive.
The pheasants and partridge are semi-breeded , they renew the population every year, but that's not a bad thing.
It's more about shooting :thousand of birds , lots of hares.
Myself , i like the 5 days hunting, salmon fishing - wich is fantastic , the whiskey road trip with breaks in all the nice villages . You have a lot of things to see and enjoy so, for sure, Scotland is a must see destination !
