Any suggestions on land I can hunt blacktails, muleys, coyotes, north of Los Angeles. Looking for something within 2 hours of North Hollywood. Thanks.

I think you picked a tuff spot to hunt out of. If your not married, move. If you are, give her 30 days to learn to hunt then move, you may have to leave her!

Seriously, that's a bad area. Lots of country around there tho. You might go up to the Frazier Park exit on I-5 and go west. Out the other side of Frasier Park is lots of oper country'. I was stuck up there a year ago for several days and just went exploring. Probally should have a 4x4 and beware theres lots of dirt bikers. Dirt bike area, I think it's called Smokey Bear Rd off I-5 befor Frazer Park. Nice country but gould be lots of bikers.

Up Hwy 14 off I-5 toward about Lancaster you'll find Hyw 138. Go right and lots of oper country that way.

Farther out and up 395 may be your best bet. Don't know whats private and not. Lots of good looking country down there but access might be a problem.
Have seen lots of elk on 395 just north of Independence, plus lots of deer and coyotes.

Welcome aboard, you are comming back aren't you? If not, forget everything I said, you might just as well go to Irac as live there! :D Wait, your not a rich movie star are you? In which case I take back everything I said and am looking forward to meeting you!

Thank you Don. I'll pack up my 4 x 4 and check those areas out. Can't hurt to check, cuz it won't give me any less land to hunt on. I'm originally from upstate ny (Buffalo to Syracuse and all points in between) and have been whitetail hunting for 22 years. Never had a problem finding land to hunt back home, thanks to lots of relatives and friends with lots of land and lots of big deer.

My first deer hunt at 14 yrs was upstate, don't recall where. My stepdad bought me a military 6.5x55 and a box of some kind of ammo. Lucky thing I didn't see anything I guess. We lived on the Island then.

Your second post! now I can pick on you :D

You'll probally like those areas but I'm not sure just what's private and what's not. I go US 395 quite a bit when I go to the Riverside area, beautiful country. If you get to Bishop and like photography, hit "Mountain Light". Right on main street on your right going north. Some fabulious photo's of landscapes and animals in there. Most by Galien Rowell. He's gone now but that stuff is great. One 16x20 of an artic fox in a blizzard will blow your mind.

Your best bet would be to hunt the southern A-zone or head over to Lake Isabella, believe its D-9, hunt the north canyons. Same area as the draw late seasion G-6 Kern river buck hunt. Seen alota deer up through there. Never hunted it but had alota friends that did. I just applied for the G-6 hunt is all.

There are plenty of deer up the range from 395. I've packed into quite a bit of that area and have come across deer on every trip. The only problem is access and the Parks.
