Hey guys,
I'm new here, what a great forum. Does anybody know where a guy can acess some moose calls online? I've tried a couple of places in the past few days, and none of them will play, my computer dosn't recognize the file type. Looking for a wav or mp3 maybe?
Thanks |

Whitetailer, all you need to call in moose is an empty coffee can and a long shoe lace, like one from a hockey skate. Punch a small hole in bottom of can, feed lace through it from inside and tie off so that lace hangs down with can held upside down.
Then wet your fingers and pull down on the string inside the can. Pulled a 55" bull in this way last fall and watched my hunter double lung him at about 30yrds. |

Thanks for the tip 88. I'm aware of that method, what I'm looking for is to hear the sound for myself, and the easiest way to do that is online. There has to be something somewhere on the internet that plays this? |

You can't "call a Cow", they way you would call a bull. Just doesn't work that way. Saying that, a cow that has lost here calf can usually be attracted by the sound of a calf in distress but only if she lost the calf within the last day, maybe two. She will stay in the general area, usually within a quarter mile.
If someone kills a calf moose and removes it from the area, Momma will come to "investigate" a distress call.
A little caution here too, Momma moose may not be in the best of mood either, she's comming to assist her young who is calling for help. She can get pretty bitchy and those hooves can be deadly.
Those calls are actual moose. Practice them. The better you get,the better the chance of success. Personaly, I prefer a birch bark horn, 18-22 inches long, it reverberates the sounds better. |
