In NOva Scotia :: As of october this year 2006 all traps have to be marked with our hunter saftey # on all traps and snares . In 2007 we are only aloud certain tyoes of traps certain types of leg holds , certain types of conibears .Leg holds have to be off set jaws with pads on them .The conibears have to be victor or bellisle . A conibear is a conibear as far as I'm consearned .I've used the same ones for many many years and had perfect. kills .I think It's the anti fur putting pressure on the government to keep adding so many restrictons on the trapper that every body will just say the hell with it .Check trappers assoation of nova scotia for all the details

Here's a link to Kansas Furharvesting. Thought maybe you'd like to see it. Be sure to check out the left margin for the regulations, seasons, licenses, etc.
Hope you enjoy. :D

Redrider, Interesting site .You don't have near the restrictions that we have . When I first started trapping 37 yeras ago I bought my liciences for $2.00 and hit the woods with any gear there was for trapping .Not many rerstrictions back then .There was lots of fur back then and there is lots of fur today . Anti fur groups are slowly getting their way

I trapped a little when I was in high school. Started with homemade live traps for nuisance problems with coons, opposum, and sometimes a skunk. Boy were those fun in a live trap. Made for good beer money back then. $35 for a good coon. Started using foot traps along the creeks and caught a few, but ended up catching someone's bird dog that wasn't suppose to be hunting on our property. So I stuck with the live traps and eventually quit after graduating and going off to college. Was a lot of fun and would enjoy doing it again someday, but time doesn't allow it right now.
