Province warns hunters of season overlap gaffe

Is that antelope real?

Alberta Fish and Wildlife officials are red-faced today after discovering their hunting guide has overlapped the antelope archery season with the antelope rifle season.

The big problem with that is bow hunters often use and hide behind antelope decoys to get close to the skittish prey and hunters firing rifles from a distance may also be fooled, officials explained.

"All hunters are cautioned to be aware that both archery and rifle hunters may be in the field on Sept. 25," they warned in a release issued yesterday.

Archery season should have closed Sept. 24.

The Fish and Wildlife division has sent letters to all archery and bow hunters that applied to hunt antelope in southern Alberta to warn them of what they are calling a "season overlap error.

For curiosity sake, I just spent about ten minutes on the Alberta Provincial hunting information Websites to see all the "CAUTIONS" flashing on the sites pertaining to hunting. You know, the responsile way it should be done to possibly save a life or two.
Well I found one little hard to see "link". No doubt there is other methods of notification being persued, which is all positive.
And somewhere along the line some of the higher-paid help in government had to "sign Off on this" which can only mean one of two things.
They signed it without fully reading and analysing the content.
They didn't have the understanding of the content.
That's only two, the third "they could care less"
Enough from me, but I feel better now, not to be confused with "feeling real good " about it.
