Any of you guys hunt coyotes?
Do you hunt over bait or do you just use calls?

Well if you consider a flock of sheep bait, yes I have used bait, but mostly I use animal in distress calls rabbit, gray fox pup, bird, mouse aqueals, my own-- a puppy sqealing ( you know the new pup brought home, and recorded as he got use to the house) I use a 12 or 10 gauge with #2 maags at night, during day calling I use a 30-06 cause it is what I got,

That's pretty good and true, if you have sheep in an area you have 'yotes....

I have heard of guys shooting a rabbit, bleeding it out on the ground then staking it, walking of 50 yards then start squalling away on a call. So this a combo bait/call!

We freeze beaver and deer carcasses in the ice of ponds and then keep watch of them while we are ice fishing.
Some nights we set in the ice house and keep watch that way.

What ever works I guess.

Good hunting

At this time of year I use rabbit guts/fur and pile them on the ice of a pond and hide behind a blind using my distress call. It brings them in fast. BTW, I use the 220 swift for greeting them.

Yeap, when rabbit hunting, all the guts and skin go into a zip lock, when calling yotes it is spread out as a scent attractant, seemed to work for me. Also takes their mind off of anything else around them(like me), they get real careless, when they smell the blood and guts.

Sometimes we just run across them where I have hunted in south western colorado. Have to have your eyes peeled though, since they blend in pretty well with the backdrop and I have never see them less than 300-400 yards.
