Not a part of NY that I frequent. In fact only been to the city once and have never made it onto the island. Went Moose hunting with a guy that hunts out there almost exclusivly. Guys a big bow hunter and has some really nice deer on the wall from LI.
Welcome to BGH |

Good luck
Was up in the Adk's for opening of early bear weekend before last. With the dry conditions up there this year there was not much food (berries, cherries etc). Saw no bears but nice being in camp and carrying a gun around the woods. |

| Been archery hunting since 1987. Always went upstate NY. Last year, 2007, was my first year deer hunting on LI. It was great, I should have hunted LI 20 years ago. My son got me into hunting LI, saves travel time and gas money and no tolls. My son got two bucks last season, I saw dozens of deer. We hunted public land. This year we started our scouting in August and it already looks like it will be a good year. Just found this site and look forward to exchanging information with other LI hunters. |

| Ridge I hear is a good hunting area. Just get out and do as much scouting as possible. Right now the vegation is very thick but my son and I kinda know the trails from last year and are keeping an eye on them. Some of the trails we can't even see but we know that they are there. I set up a camera and a second should arrive at my house today. If you get a chance check out Otis Pike spot number 18. I have seen deer there and good trails. It is a large piece of land but surrounded by a dirt road so you can't get lost. There is water on the north end of the property. Lost of good trees for a climber. |

Work always seems to get in the way. We do what we can, even if we can get out for an hour. Sometimes after getting home from work at 2 AM we get up at 6AM to scout. The effort pays off, but sometimes it does seem like work.
By the way at spot #18 it is more like the N/E end |

| otis pike i think i no were that is ive hunted the private land behind the longwood estate alwas seem to spook something on the way such a shitty feeling lol or just see nothing but i was on the ground then i finaly got my climbing stand so im good now. im gonna go try out infront of the estate always seen tons of deer over there and they travel that path heading towards the longwood junior high fields. and also hurd back behind the old kmart and down wadding riverhallow rd by the satilight station is stock full of deer also got to see if there private or public thow. but there is one spot were i no a giant deer is lerking around but i cant get him because its all non hunting land surrounded by houses out in mt.Sinai or rockypoint it stinks. i have seen him out in this guys small field a couple of times heading home from work his a real big 8-12 with a wide long rack. not shure how many points he has since its always at night and he usally jumps back into the woods when i go to throw a light on him |
