| I got drawn in the NH moose lottery for E1 (Either Sex Permit), I am looking for info on the best spots to start my scouting. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!! |

My permit is in WMU D1 right next to you. My base camp is in Carroll. I'm looking too, for info and have been using this web site to get started. Terraserver has great shots from the air and you can zoom in or out.
Have you a base camp yet?
Have you made a gun, caliber, bullet choice yet?

Thanks. I am probably going to stay in Gorham at the Royalty INN, we know the owners and are getting a good deal. I have decided to either use my Model 700 30-06 150 gr or my H&R 500 S&W 500gr. |

| Moose I shot in Maine in 2000 hunt I used a Remington 700 30/06 with Win. 180 gr Silver Tip. 53 1/2" spread 23 points 850# dressed weight. |

| Nice Bull. Where abouts in Maine did you get it? My father and I are going to do some reloading, I will probably go to a 180gr bullet, he got his tag in WMD 12 this year, I'm his subpermitee, vice versa with my NH tag. |

in 2000 there were no WMD's. Then, it was SC for southcentral zone. There were 185 permits issued. Found him on a logging road off old mountain rd in the town of Kingsbury off Rt. 16. Had him in the crosshairs at 6:45 A.M. on the first moring of the season, then in the truck and in Greenville at 9:30 A.M. the hunt was over! Right place at the right time. The silver tip did its job but, shots were close. First shot was at 80 yds looking at a tail shot but he stopped when I was closing the door of the truck.and loading the 06. Turned to look at me and I put one in his neck. Bye, Bye. he was out of there. Shot him on the run at 120yds and sent him side ways. Bye, Bye. Man! He went into the woods and I ran after him. A logging road was running the same as the one I was on and I stopped and nothing. Then there he was, no kidding 40 yds from me. I was kneeling and shot him in the shoulder all done. When we field dress him the left lung was gone. The rump shot had made it to the lung. When we skinned him and cut him up the shoulder shot hit the spine and it was covered with silver it was about 3'' smashed out. The lung shot saved me because he was heading down hill to a swamp. Were he dropped it was 60 yds to the truck.
This year I'm going with Barnes XLC in 6.5mm 140 grn. in a T/C Encore 6.5x284 Norma 24" barrel. I'm hopping for the same luck! :thumbsup1:
