This is my bobcat that I killed Jan 20 2001. It weighed 37 pounds on the foot.
My cousin shot one the same day that was about the size of a house cat.
Here's a pic:( there is a 3" 00 buckshot on the side for size reference)
Anybody else got any other big bobcats? |

| I took it in east central alabama. It was shot with a 30-06 BAR, it is in an area that is planted in pines and there are alot of rabbits around for them to eat. My cousin shot one the same day that was smaller than mine. He also took one this past season that weighed about 30lbs in an area not far from where this one was killed. It is being mounted and I'll post pics as soon as I can. |

I assume you mean what gun. It was a Browning BAR Safari II in 30-06 with a tasco 3-9x50 world class scope. I was shooting winchester Silver Ballistic tips w/ 180 grain bullets.
My cousin shot a cat the same day with a similar setup, but his shot was a little high and he severed the spine. The cat began to scream and roar as well as crawl with it's front legs until he took a follw up shot finished him off. |

Oh sorry, to answer your question neither. We were in a shooting house that was in a field that is about 500yds long x 40yds across and is surrounded by thick pine trees. We regularly see cats crossing the field but usually they are running, but this particular morning this big one came out and was walking down the side of the field and it was on my side so I shot and it hit the ground. A few minutes later we spotted a second cat crossing the field at about 200yds ryan shot but missed and the cat ran off. About thirty minutes later a cat appeared(not sure if it was the same one he shot at before or not) directly across the field from where my cat was laying. Ryan shot and hit high and a second shot finished him off.
We have so many cats in that area they hurt the rabbit population. Last season I missed a small cat and one that was so big I thought it was a deer fawn until it had ran almost out of the field and I shot over it. |

I've never seen one that big for sure. The one I missed last season would probably go close to that it was a bit bigger than the one in the pic. But the combo of moving target, low light, and the fact that my rifle was off caused me to miss it.
Got any pics nonya? Would like to see it, that is a big one!! What does he feed it? |
