| A 243 would be a good choice with plenty of longer range capabilities. If you are going to be hunting in very windy conditions, with long range shooting, you may wish to go to something that handles a heavier bullet than the 243. Many.many choices then, mine woulde be the 270 |

If you are looking to save pelts, then go for something in the smaller diameters:
204
221
222
223
22-250
If you don't care about the pelt and are going to stretch out the shot distances on windy days (like Hammer said), go bigger:
243
6mm
308
7mm-08
Or whatever your shoulder can take. |

| I like the .204 ruger. I still have good range in wind...not sure how with such a light bullet. It's also really easy on the hides. |

| We usually have two people per stand...one for the up close with a 12 or 20 gauge and one for the long shots with .223 (my favorite) or the .22-250. |
