I have had the pleasure to own and fire many different makes and models of pistols over the years. Everything from Glocks, a Kimber (didn't like), Para Ordinance, Beretta, H&K, and a couple of Sig Sauers. I even had a Kel Tech which is a cheap but surprisingly good shooting CC pistol. I would have to say that my overall favorite to own and shoot was my Sig 228 in 9mm. From what I understand they no longer make this handgun which makes me wnat to kick myself even more for selling it. The 226 also was a pleasure to shoot. They are a little on the expensive side but they were some of the most reliable and accurate pistols I ever had the pleasure to shoot.

Sigs are good guns. I own a P220 in .45 ACP, while not my favorite I do like it and probably will never sell it. The 9mm P228 are still currently being made, but Sig has pull them from the commercial market for the time being to make them more available to LE and Government. The P228 is carried by the NCIS and an limited number of Navy pilots and aircrews. Sig has reserved this gun for the Law Enforcement market and Government sales since many Federal agents carry this gun as well. It's not prohibited from the civilian market though, in fact many gun shops often have good used ones for sale. Like I said, Sig has just made all current (for the last 5 years) P228's available to LE and government for the time being. It's much like how Zippo distributed it's entire production of lighter to Army/Navy PX's during WWII, they weren't banned from the civilian population, just hard to come by for that time being. If you can find a good P228, buy it!!

Thanks for the info Western Hunter. I have always kicked myself for letting that one go. At te time I was strapped for cash and let a friend talk me into trading it in on a Kimber which he swore by. Biggest mistake I have ever made! I hated the Kimber from the get go. I'm not a fan of the 1911 family which is why I didn't keep my Parra either. While it was an extremly well made side arm, I was not enthused with having to carry a cocked & locked duty pistol. By the time I realized what I had done someone else had picked up my Sig. I did however lead to me owning what is probably my second favorite sidearm, an H&K USP .40 variant 3. It was the only H&K USP I have seen to date without a manual safety. It only had a decocker. Sweet hand gun!!!!

I'm not big on handguns. I own a few and would have to say the Taurus 66 in 357mag is my favorite. Probably because it's the one I carry when I'm in the field.

Ditto on the Sig's,absolutly love my p220 .45. The only other gun I carry is a Glock 23 .40,and only then when I need something a little easier to conceal.I considered a Glock 27 but it was way too small for my hands.

I enjoy shooting pistols almost as much as rifles. I think my most fun pistol is a S&W model 199 in .22LR. It is such a plesure to take out and put several hundred rounds through it. My kids all like to shoot it too. Of course, .22 is cheap. I like my Cz 75B in 9mm. It is the best fitting pistol I have ever had for my hand size. It does not like Blazer ammo, with lots of incomplete ejections. It does well with brass cased ammo and has less recoil than the Ruger I had. I got the new Springfield armory .45Xd. It also fits well and shoots quite well and comfortably. It has the 5" barrel. I have a .40 baby desert Eagle, which is a disappointment. It consistently shoots 3" right and 4" high ( so I do hold for that) and the company told me to go get a CZ sight for it to fix the problem! I guess I will get to the gunsmith some day. I also have a Dan Wesson .375 revolver with the 8" barrel. It is fun to shoot and quite accurate. I pity Europeans for the restrictions under which they live. I went to hunt in New Zealand and had to check my rifle in thru the police station at the airport. He asked me for my gun permit!!! I told him that in Texas there is no need for a permit, nor any such animal in existence and that if I wanted any kind of gun all I did was go to the store and get it right then and there. I thought his jaw would hit the floor and he got so confused about me not having the sacred paperwork, he did not know what to do so he let me thru anyway. I am sure he thinks we are utter barbarians over here. This was before you had to have the customs 4457 along with you ( and I have still never been asked for it on reentry after 4 trips abroad). Well, I guess I better head back to the range.

First time I ever looked in here. Not a big handgun shooter, mostly just plinking. But I've got a few. Don't know for sure what's my favorite.

S&W 38/44 in 38spec.
S&W K32 32 long
S&W K22
High Standard HD Military w/6" barrel
Ruger P89 9mm (maybe it's a P90?) least favorite by far.
Savage model 1917 32 short auto in the origional box w/ xtra clip.

In my 38 I shoot only 155gr cast bullets, Keith type & H.P. In the 32 long I also shoot only cast bullet's, 90gr RN if I remember correctly. I like casting bullets! the K22 isn't as accurate as the other Smith's but the daughter-in-law does shoot it. The High Standard will shoot the pants off everything. Only problem I have is the eye's aren't so good any more so I don't shoot so well.

Don what length barrel on the K22? I have one that was my dad's with a 6 inch barrel and that thing is a real shooter. I tend to carry my Buckmark more often, but shot for shot that K22 just dosent miss, tho I tend to every now and then.

But a favorite ::-k would have to be my (original) Dan Wesson, 6 in barrel, SS, 44 mag got to be the shootinest hand gun I got!!!! Any body that shoots a Dan knows what I am talking about.

ADKBEAR,

It's a 6" barrel but I wouldn't be to quick to blame the gun. I don't shoot handguns a whole lot and probally not well. I really like my other guns and love casting bullets. As a result I shoot them more, maybe that's part of it. But, my High Standard I shoot fairly well? Go figure! ::-k

Don
High Standard turned out good guns to be sure. I don't have any but my father in law has a couple target grade supermatics. One is for 22 shorts, very cool handgun the only semi-auto I have ever seen designed specialy for the 22 short. I guess at one time he shot competition for Kodak.

I have two S&W Model 57's in .41 Mag. N-frame reveolvers. One has a 6" barrel that I took in trade for a Sako Forrester in 22-250 w/ a Burris 6 X 18 scope (what was I thinking!) and the other has a 8-3/8" barrel w/ Hogue grips and an Aimpoint 1000 red dot scope. I bought it used w/o the scope and grips. I use the 8-3/8 barreled one for deer hunting. The round falls in the middle between .357 and .44 Mag. I do a little reloading as the choice of factory ammo is REALLY limited. Kills deer deader than a doornail. A good shooting iron to be sure.
