HI GUYS,

YES, it have been a name change, my light is called now the BOREALIS.

MAG Instruments (the owners of Maglite) has asked me to remove the name MAG from my light add
It seems that it is a registered trademark.

I am compliying with their request and calling my light BOREALIS.

Thank you

The MAG 951 II rechargeable flashlight compares very well with the most powerful military-police flashlight that you can get over the counter, the Surefire M-6 (500 lumens, run time 20 minutes on six 123's batteries -$400-)

Here is a couple pictures for the comparison:
Beamshots from 43 yards away, camera at 15 yards

Surefire M-6 (500 lumens)

MAG 951 II rechargeable flashlight run time 45 minutes

Other powerful police flashlights like the Stinger, Magcharger and Tiger Light are in the 200 to 250 lumens.
They use 6 volts Ni Cad systems while my MAG 951 II uses a 12 volts Nimhs system.

The inquiry I get most often about the MAG 951, is how much more powerful they are compared to the regular police or military flashlight.

The Magcharger and the Stinger have been for many years the standard from which all the others lights are judged.
The Magcharger has been upgraded in the last few years from 30,000 candlepower to 40,000, and the Stinger has come out with the Ultra Stinger, that has upgraded the candlepower of the Stinger from 40,000 to 75,000.

Last year I bought one of the Magchargers, and just now I bought one of the Ultra Stingers of 75,000 candlepower, to test them again my rechargeable MAG 951 II.

And to represent the military high end flashlight, I included the Surefire M-6 with the 500 lumens lamp. Of course, this light is the darling of Special Forces and many SWAT teams; it uses six 123’s batteries for a 20 minutes run time.

The target is the tool shed with the beam shots coming from 43 yards away, while my camera is placed at 15 yards from the target.

Here are the contenders, from left to right, Surefire M-6, Ultra Stinger, Magcharger and the MAG 951 II rechargeable.

Magcharger 40,000 candlepowers, 200 lumens

Ultra Stinger 75,000 candlepowers, 290 lumens

Surefire M-6 (500 lumens) this light uses six 123's batteries for a 20 minutes run.

MAG 951 II (rechargeable, 951 lumens)

The MAG 951 II is $200 shipped.

Just an unbiased opinion, I bought one of the 951 lights when they first came out. It is hands down the brightest and best light that I own and I have quite a few surefires and other manufacturers too. Pictures cannot show the real difference between this and normal lights. My favorite part is that it looks like a regular MagLite but when you turn it on everyone freaks out because of the brightness. BlackBear also stands behind his product. I had the battery carrier out and was changing batteries and a friend asked to see it. (The upgrade battery carrier is a work of machining art) My friend dropped and broke a small plastic part of the carrier. Upon hearing my sad story BlackBear immediately shipped a replacement part for free. If you need a light that really turns night into day then this is it.
