I dont hunt the west side for elk... but I do alot of deer hunting and run into them on the west side. Hunting the west is way different than hunting the east.

What area do you hunt? I used to hunt the Colockum but the area I hunted is not open to muzzleloading. I used to hunt up by where the windmills are now until they closed that. Now there are so many people I am switched to muzzleloading.

I love to hunt Elk. I'm new to hunting in WA and I'm STILL tring to figure out the regs. Not sure why they have to be so confusing... Can someone tell me what the advantage to getting a special permit is over getting an over the counter tag?

Thanx

special permits allow you to take game in a unit that would be closed or to hunt a unit during a perticular time frame, or take an animal such as a doe or big bull ect. But, all of those have closed and permits have been doled out. Over the counter is fine though, lots of land to hunt and plenty of game.
