| Unit 62 is located next to limited license unit 61. To promote quality elk hunting and not have an orange pumpkin patch in the fall seasons, this unit will eventually be a limited draw unit. This is the future wave in Colorado and people will have to get use to it. I would much rather have a good chance at harvesting a quality mature bull than eating dust from too many hunters in the field with raghorns. |

Welcome Swollen Tongue, nice to see new people.
I don't think limited draws for all units are the wave of the future, just some. The article mentions that 20% of the herd already is held back for quality hunting presumably across a few select units. It doesn't sound like 62 is a part of the restricted units for quality hunts.
I completely agree that some units should be held back requiring more prefence points, allowing people a shot at a trophy animal on public land. However there are some units that should not be. A lot of people just like to get out shoot a bull or cow and call it good, put meat in the freeze, without much thought about going for a trophy.
If all units are held back to produce quality hunts, the elk population will soar even higher than it already is. |

| I was just trying to say that unit 61 is a limited license unit.It is surounded by across the counter license units which makes it a loner of quality hunting. Unit 62 borders unit 61. If unit 62 became a limited license unit, it would make the elk hunting a lot better. All population elk herds in Colorado are managed by the number of Cow licenses issued each year. The more elk, the more Cow licenses issued, period. Limited license units not only promote quality hunting, but limits the number of hunters in the field at the same time for a better hunting experience. Across the counter tags is a dinosaur. |
