Well, we have a long wait till Spring Gobbler season starts up. Is it just me, or is the break between deer season and turkey season seem unbearabley long!?!? It's only 4 months, but it seems like an eternity.

| Yes time does seem to be dragging, I will use my time up scouting, small game hunting, 3D shooting, But you are right there is nothing like that first gobble on a crisp spring morning. Can't wait until the stripers start running also. |

I heard 'em gobbling during deer season. I never heard them that late in the year. I always seem to see tons of turkeys during deer season.
I'm hoping to try for some stripers this year on the Hudson. I've never been. Looks fun though...

Turkey???
Its still deer season for another month and a half in NJ. Pa ends on Saturday. This year I am going to try my hand with the fox and coyotes too. I have way too much time in the woods left this winter to think about spring!!! |

Sorry i haven't replied NYArcher.
We will probably go out on the Hudson somewhere around Albany or Troy. My uncle goes several times a year. I can't wait to go this year.
Do you live near Albany?

I don't own one personally, but I do no a couple of people who have won them at NWTF events and they love them. They are very expensive though, aren't they?
I have a Mosberg 835 ultamag and that does a number on them longbeards! And it was cheap! I only paid $219 for it... new. I shoot remington 3&1/2" heavy shot. It is a very lethal combo. Shoots and patterns tight at 50 yards. Just an idea for you.

NY Archer,
I live out in Pittsfield, MA about 45 minutes east of Albany. We are planning on heading out that way this spring for a day of striper fishing on the the Hudson. Maybe we can all meet up sometime. I'll keep you posted.

| I am the Big Game member formerly known as StrokerAce I changed my name to match my Yahoo Instant Messenger ID & Yahoo E-Mail Address... BigE, thanks for the input I own a Mossburg and I love it. I'm a Union Carpenter and believe in spending my money on American made products. But I haven't found a shotgun that can match the mechanical ingenuity and the "Advantage Camo" on "Bennelli" shotguns (Italy)or "Traditions" blackpowder rifles (Italy & Spain) I have never owned one and I'm wondering about workmanship and quality |

Bennelli makes a beautiful shotgun, but they are a little too rich for my taste. The Mossberg is cheap, accurate, and extremely deadly for birds. I am a remington man for most of the rest of my shotguns. I do have a Franchi 12gauge from Italy though. Nice gun.
For muzzleloaders, I have to stick to my favorite and that is the Thompson Center Omega. Nothing like it in the world, except for the Encore. But, for the price, Traditions are great.
