For 2005, Now through Dec 31. Then you need a new license for Jan 1st through March 31st. Then you need to buy another one for the november season. After that the tag will be Nov - Mar.

From the DOW website
"New Season Structure: Beginning in November 2006, the lion hunting
season will run from November through March. This brochure covers lion
hunting harvest limit quotas from Jan. 1 through March 31, 2006. See
“Lion Hunting Season Dates.” "

The tag is good state wide.

Do you have dogs?

After you get a tag they say you need to call 888-940-LION to make sure that the GMU you want to hunt is not closed. Don't forget that !/2 of GMU 62 and 1/2 or GMU 61 are closed to lion hunting. 66 & 67 are pretty close to those 2 units.

Best of luck. I'm also trying this year for the 1st time. I have a lead on some dogs but I'm sure that I'll be tracking on foot and calling then most of the time.

My in-laws bought a house in Pagosa Springs and I'm thinking of going there for a week and hunting around there. I'm also trying around Red Feather and one of my employees has some land he can hunt down by Walsenburg.

Kepp up updated.
