| 157 pilots only took 24 wolves in 6 weeks? I would have thought they could take more than that. I guess its not as easy as I think it would be. |

| It had been unseasonably warm before they shut down the season. It wasn't ideal tracking conditions and with gas prices as high as they are most of the pilots were waiting. In my opinion, hunters get a pretty bad rap from the program and it is mainly for small areas around native villages that have been shot out of game, not to mention off limits to others. As usual we take the brunt of the attack for something we get minimal, if any, gain from. |

I thought the price of fuel might have had something to do with it. If they had the license and happend to be in the area when they saw a wolf I guess they might want to go after it but with what you said I guess they arent going to go out of thier way to help out if they get nothing (or very little) in return.
I have mixed emotions about hunting (or trapping) wolves. I think they are a magestic animal but when you read and see all of the problems that game managers are having because of them.....you know thier numbers need to be controlled. I think if I saw first hand the destruction they cause, that I have read from so many people that have seen what they can do to thier game and other animal populations, that I could change my mind about it. Something about watching an animal get eaten while it's still alive that makes you loose your sympathy for the predator thats eating it. I have seen plenty of pics of coyotes eating sheep while they were still alive and I'm sure a pack of wolves can be much more deadly. I would post some of those pics but they are very graphic! |

| I'm not against wolf hunting or trapping. Nor am I against arial wolf control when its needed. My point was that hunters get a bad rap for something that shouldn't be considered hunting, arial shooting. |
