Hunter 777, I like to set my snares about knee high to the top of the loop .if your cototes are smaller than ours set the snare a bit lower Our coyotes are about the size of german shepards .Maybe a little bit smaller .The height depends on the size of the animal . The pole can be any angle at all they have no fear of a pole . I use about a 10 inch loop.and it won't hurt to make them duck their head a bit .I also let my snares get caroaded by hanging them out side all summer and boil them in hemlock bark to darken them and remove any sent on them .That makes them very hard to see this really worka well
