I replaced my Leupold with one. It is brighter , easier to focus, and eye relief is better. It is a whole lot less expensive. The glass is the same glass quality that Meade uses in their telescopes and that says alot. Meade also makes Redfield scopes. The tube is true one piece construction with fewer internal moving parts. Put it on one of my hard kickers and no problems so far.

The feedback I've heard has generally been good, although I've not tried them myself. In general I've been pleased with the older, upper end simmons scopes.

Interesting conversation as I just bought a simmons off ebay. I am planning on using it on a small caliber, probably a 22. So not to worried. you dont' get much scope new for 40 bucks.

The quality of Simmons has improved enormously and they are one of the better value for the dollar scopes on the market, but as with any product, you're usually better off staying away from the low quality entry level line-up and paying a few bucks more for longterm durability and satisfaction.
