Hi all, I actually put a similar post to this in the Africa section but wanted to talk here as well. I have a quick question- has anyone had any negative experiences with the Hornady FMJ bullets in .375 or .458 calibres.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, I am currently updating my own field research and am still a bit iffy about this bullet even though it seems to perfom well under normal conditions.

Cheers, Nathan.

Over
the yrs this question has popped up many times during brown bear hunts and everyone who guides up here has the same answer. Brown bears are tough but massive destruction in the boilerworks kills them faster than shoulder or through & through everytime. A classic example is when the 416 craze started most hunters used the 400gr Swift and it was pretty hard for the 1st few yrs and a lot of back-up shots were needed on soon to be dead but?? who wants to take a chance situation!

On the other hand my father in law has killed numerous [DLP] brown bear with a magazine load of FMJ out of a Garand in his yard.
