I got drawn for cow elk in the Umtanum. I have a piece of private land to hunt that always has elk but i want some sort of back up just in case the impossible happens and there are none at my spot. Do any of you know any decent spots to find a herd? I am not shure how firmiliar you all are with the area but the only place I have seen any is around Hanson pond. thanks

Hey Ellensburg,

I live here too. Congrats on getting a cow tag. I mostly hunt the Mansatash area , but you should not have any problems in the Umtanum. I think the largest herd in the state is near Yakima - Cowiche area. Good luck to you and happy hunting.
