| lol, there's no blacktail listed in there. It's sad that the majority votes are for whitetail and we don't get those where I live. |

Elk gets my vote hands down!
No whitetail here, don't think I've ever even had any.
Mule deer can be good or very, very gamey.
Antelope is also one of my favorites.
So hostage67, how does blacktail compare to other game? |

I dunno, that's why I was dissapointed that it wasn't listed lol. I just started getting into hunting so I haven't gotten the chance to eat any blacktail yet. I was really hoping the poll would give me some idea where it would hit.
I have had some deer jerky before but I have no idea what kind of deer it was |

I also went with other.
I'm with hostage 67 on the Blacktail. Great stuff.
If the hogs are in the consideration of big game. I'm going with hog meat. |

| I like all wild game meat . Hammer is right moose is right up there on the list of favourites . I had a couple of bear roasts this fall that were out of this world delicious . The corned deer wasn't too shabby either nor was the rabbit pies . Man that is one tough decision for me to make , to pick a favourite out off all that good stuff . Hammer could narrow his choice down cause he didn't want anythiong to do with the bear meat or the rabbit pies.... LOL LOL |

Boy this is a tuff question. I've tried it all on the list except whitetail. Some has been great and some,,,less than I'd hoped for, within the same animal. The game meat I never found bad has been Ruff Grouse, Franklin Grouse, Blue Grouse and Cottontails. Any deer comes way down my list from elk, antelope and one pig I got to taste, not a fair sampling of pig.
This question might have also asked whats the worst. I've only had moose a few times and never a piece I liked. Maybe I should bum some that's younger and better aged. Even worse than the moose was Spruce Grouse and Ptarmigan. Yeck!!!! ::woot2: |

| Now,,, If the game birds are in on this . It's really getting tough . Ruffled grouse is really tasty I also had plenty of black duck and teal . The teal is even tastier than the B duck . Spruce Grouse are protected here in N S so I haven't tried one of them . I did see an odd one killed by vehicles and their crop was filled with spruce needles . I asume they would not even get on my list . My son shot a Canada goose when he was 14 . The first year he could hold his own licences . That was also very tasty . I've had lots of moose and it is very tasty . I guess I'm like the coyote I'll eat anything It's impossible for me to pick one as a favorite . |

I've had a chance to eat just about everything. I am a whitetail fanatic, but Elk tops the list for this carnivore.....Moose is a close 2nd.
Actually, as far as wild game is concerned, about the only thing I completely disliked was an opossum stew. It was REALLY bad. |

Welcome to the site. If you think that's bad you should try some baked coon. I tried it and my dogs wouldn't even eat it. Burried it shallow out in the yard and the coyotes wouldn't even dig it up. I doubt the worms ate that thing! |

| I had some bear meat one time that some one gave me that was hanging in a barn for 2 weeks . The carcas turned black then he cut it up . when i tried to eat it , the more i chewed it the fuller my mouth got until I had to spit it out . That really turned me off on the bear until I decided to try a peice of roast that I gave my daughter and it was lovely stuff so I came to the conclusion that the bear the guy gave me was rotten . YUCK !!!! YUCK!!!!! YUCK!!!! I'll be looking after my own bear from now on |

If we're talking about all game, my favorite would have to be the cottontail.

Well I voted for moose, but it was a toss-up with elk. In a way I lied as my favorite is really mountain sheep, but it ain't likely I will ever get a regular supply.
Then I see Mr. Davis had to leave the continent and that added an additional problem because I truely love eland, but again there is a poor supply over here.
So I guess I'll stick with moose/elk. |
