October 2006 Feature Article:

The Joys of Muzzleloader Shooting

Muzzleloaders are a lot of fun to shoot! The concept of a single shot makes shooters try to do their best on every shot. Large puffs of smoke belching from the muzzle after each shot, makes this a very visual shooting sport. As well, muzzleloaders are capable of firing a variety of bullet weights and powder charges, giving them the ability to be a multi species firearm. Read more...

There is only one thing in the article that I very strongly disagree with. The picture caption that reads... "Inline muzzleloaders such as this one, have made muzzleloader hunting for big game animals, much more enjoyable."

I suppose you can read this in a variety of ways, but to me it implies that the advent of inlines has made hunting more enjoyable than with older, traditional muzzleloaders. Nope. Inlines don't make hunting more enjoyable than any other kind of muzzleloader hunting. They make it more comfortable for hunters who are accustomed to modern rifles, but for REAL fun you have to try a traditional muzzleloader!

+1 I took my cow elk out on nov 12th, first day of the hunt with an open sight .54cal cva big bore mountain rifle @ 140 yards shooting a patched round ball. Now THAT is enjoying the true meaning of the muzzle loader! A scoped inline rifle is about as fun as a scoped centerfire.

But i still like my inline shooting buddies, never would kick them to the curb over it :thumbsup1:
