Hi, all -
Anyone have any positive experience with shooting/hunting gloves they'd care to share? I'm ready to get a pair, but would like to hear some feedback first. Thanks...

| Depends. What purpose are you planning on using gloves for? For cold weather shooting I usually just use a pair of wool, gloves with a waxed leather palm (for grip), and cut off the fingers (of the glove :D ) to about the mid nuckle. I use the same set up for cold weather only... when pistol shooting, waterfowl hunting or big game hunting. Never had a need to wear gloves for shooting any other time. Make sure that your golves have a gripping material on the palm and bottom fingers. Wool on it's own againts steel is pretty slippery and doesn't grip well. |

I'm using gloves for two purposes: range and field. At the range, I'm trying to get comfortable with my new sidearm, a Ruger revolver in .454 Casull. For that, I got a pair of PAST gloves, which do seem to help with the recoil somewhat.
For the field, I stumbled onto some Gates all-leather gloves that have been discontinued, and so were a great deal. I haven't tried them, but I expect they'll be OK. Mostly I was looking for a recoil reducer for the hand cannon mentioned above. |
