Arghhhh ... what's a kilogram? ... does that mean a typical coyote's mass is, say, 13 kg ... divided by 0.4536 kg / lb mass = 28.65 (Fixed it!) lb mass which means it WEIGHS 29 pounds (at the earth's surface)???!!!
Also interesting are the speedS at which coyotes run. In my observation coyotes have three running speeds: 1) a loping run, 2) a serious run, like when they see a human (potential hunter), and, 3) once a bullet zings by them - they hit a third speed that seems to be more flight than land travel - an elongated blur moving at incredible speed hardly touching the ground.
Anyone know how fast???? ... preferably in miles per hour ... but if in km/hr ... I'll make the conversion. |

A Kg is 2.2 Lbs. 13Kg x 2.2=28.6 lbs
I found another study done here called the Urban Coyote Project. They stated a coyote can run 64 km per hour for short distances. Which converts to 39.8 Mph.

I agree coyotes can get up to that 40mph pretty quick. All a part of what makes them, in my personal opinion, the ultimate predator..Whats even more amazing is how they can maneuver so sharp at that speed. |

| ... fixed it! I guess I started with 10 kg ... thanks! ... we get the same thing. Forty mph - that's zippin' right along. Saw a couple coyotes this morning ... about 800 yards out ... but town was just over the hoirzon - so we refrained. |

| I bet that would be a good area..Start just before/at sun up. The coyotes probably go into town at night and then leave in the morning to hide out in the out lying country side. Nail them when there coming back from "grocery shopping". |
