congrats I was just up in Hudsons hope as well. Just wanted to know if the helicopters in that area were really spray herbicide or scaring off the moose. Wherever the moose fed heavily, i found they had hung bags and the moose had run off only three day max before hunting season ( Aug 15 ) started.

Yes they did spray the willows and the cotton wood trees last year in oug,,,they did it by spraying with cans with nozzles on them. i heard that they used a chopper to get the sprayers in to the area,,i don't think they used the helicopters for spaying. I did not see the moose i saw last year when in there,,i think it pushed a lot of moose out of were i hunted last year,,,it was hard pickings trying to find a moose this year,,i will not go back into that area for a few years. wayne w.

the guys spraying are from some sort of a forest management company. They are spraying the willows to help manage "weed" growth but what they don't understand is they are also chasing away the moose by killing its food source ( willows) and all other creatures that normally feed and dwell in the affected areas. It also destroys the wild berries that grow there. You will notice red and white bags all over the clearcuts. The spraying afftects most clearcuts (3yrs and under) west of highway 29 by Moberly Lake. Also around the WAC bennett Dam and around Hudsons Hope. These are the areas I have scouted. Although if you do come across a clearcut that has not been sprayed, you will encounter all the species of game because they have no where to go.
