I will be traveling to Wyoming this September to hunt antelope with a friend. He has been several times and has used a range finder that was only good out to ~ 200 yards and we want to get one that is a little more powerful for this trip. We have been looking at some and I was wondering if anyone could provide feedback on the Bushnell Yardage Pro 800. With this model (and many others for that matter) the manufacturer states that it is accurate on deer sized animals to 300 yards. My question is, is this model or similar range finders really accurate to 300 yards on deer sized animals or is this just marketing hype? Any input on this model or ones you have experience with would be appreciated.

get yourself a lecia. By far the best one out there. If you buy a cheaper brand you will have to second guess the reading being right or not; so why even have it. You get out in the open in sagebrush country, it gets mighty hard to judge distances.
