I heard on the news last week that the avian bird flu that is showing up in Asia in chickens has the potential someday to infect ducks. Being that we hunt waterfowl, is anyone concerned of the potential of coming in contact with infected ducks in a few years?

I'm sure there is no research on this topic yet, but couldn't this potentially ruin the sport?

Yes I am concerned with this. There was a good article in Newsweek last week about this. I don't have the article on hand right now and I didn't see if there were any confirmed duck cases yet. But if it ever does spread to ducks it could be a possibility that it would spread quickly. They can get it from tainted water. And the Mississippi flyway and the East Asian Flyway overlap each other in Alaska so it could make its way down here because a bird affected bird can spread it for 10 days. If you get a chance read that newsweek article. However you know how they are they like to predict the worst. I sure hope so.
