We're getting ready for Blacktail bow.
The new site is set and the new carbon arrows are all balanced and ready to fly.
Spending some time with fine tuning, to make sure the arrows fly where I'm aiming.
My partner got to pick the area this year. It looks like we'll be headed over to some area that is just southwest of Pe Ell.
It's going to be a great year. |

We're headed out Saturday to look at the area we're going to hunt and get an idea of how we're going to work the area come opening day of archery. Only three more weeks.
All of the equipment is going with us on this trip. We want to make sure we're set up properly. That everything is in working order. That the range finders are calibrated.
We might be setting up a stand or two and look for a good location for a blind. If the game movement is condusive.
There is also a large herd of elk in the area. It will be a good time to look at the elk possibilities come modern rifle. |

Good luck on your bear hunt.
Good luck on the archery antelope.
Bear has been open for a while up here. We're hoping to see one while we're out setting up for the blacktail.
Bear meat chili. Good stuff. |

We were able to leave mid day Friday.
Found a major game trail (expressway) on this weekends scouting trip. About 5 miles in and dumps into a clearing on it's way to the river with several places to set up for archery or rifle. :\:D/
Track and sign from Deer, Elk, Coyote and Cougar but, no bear sign of any kind.
If it holds. The freezer will be full at the end of this season. :D |

| Sounds like you'll be hunting right near my place, fuzzybear. I think I saw your tire tracks the other day. There wasn't a lot of action on the logging roads I had been traveling until this last weekend I saw a set of tracks from a rig. If you haven't hunt around here for elk in modern, I'll have you know that it's chaos. There is ppl everywhere. You better find a good spot that is secluded or else you'll be hunting along side every Tom, Dick, and Harry on this half of the state. As for archery for blacktails, I don't think you'll have a lot competition compared to modern deer. Just don't shoot my buck. :[-X lol.. Good luck this season. |

Thanks for the heads up on the Elk. We usually chase them up around Packwood. We thought if Elk looked any good during archery Blacktail. We'd give it a try.
Tie a red flag to his antlers and he's yours.
Looks like we may be going a little further north. East of the Wynoochee. Into the Simpsom property. About a 5 mile walk on primitive road but not far from the river.
If it stays as hot as it has been. We'll camp along the river and get some afternoon fishing and swimming in. We noticed most of the movement has been early, early morning from higher up in the older growth down toward the water and back again.
Good luck, back to ya. |

Blacktail archery opened about an hour ago.
We are heading out as soon as everyone is finished with their workday. |
