Well in that post I was talking about rabbits but I hunt:deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, dove, quail, duck, raccoon, crow, coyote, and just about anything else that moves.
I hunt in Alabama mostly in Cleburne, Talladega, and Calhoun counties; but I have been known to travel around a bit. |

| They aren't in season here yet, but squirrel is, the problem with both right now is tularemia. That's a hospital job, right there. |

Tularemia is a serious bacterial infection which causes a rash, fever, and later septicemia (bacteria invasion of the blood), and infection of the joints and heart valves. It can also cause meningitis pneumonia, and osteomyelitis (bone infection).
The purpose of avoiding contact with rabbits in the summertime is because this is when ticks, mosquitos and fleas, which are vectors for the infection, are most active. Treatment for tularemia involves intensive antibiotic therapy. |

| YEAH that stuff is definitely no fun I had it a few years back and it was BAD. The docs caught it early on and I was able to avoid the hospital but I spent 3 days on the can before we found out what it was. Mine messed up my digestive system for a while I couldn't keep anything down. Antibiotics knocked it out within a week or so. |

My son and I went rabbit hunting last January 2005 and were skunked - seeing only 2 jackrabbits while walking most of the day.
The next day, our cousins joined us for some skeet shooting and we all had a blast, with my boy and I hitting 92 out of 100 and 89 out of 100 to win the contest. |

| I went out behind mud lake WMA in eastern idaho the other day and there were more rabbits out there than i have ever seen before. We just cruised down the road in the evening and were stopping every hundred yards or so to chase the critters. There were a lot of big black ears too. |
