I talked with a guy that called in 2 deer with one last year.
Has anybody ever used one of these and had any success with them?

I think Primos make the can. You just turn it over and it makes the sound. It is supposed to work well.

Yes it is Doe BLEAT in a can. This does work very well. However it WILL scare deer away if it is not close enough to the RUT.
That is said from experience.

It is also experienced that it will scare Does off. Sometimes younger deer also.

Quaker boy, and Primos makes them, and to my knowledge, Primos makes 3 different sizes.
Using it during the rut, 1 or 2 times every 20 minutes or so will help bring in a buck.

The point here is that if you get a buck really close, and you hit that bleat, (or grunt for that matter) and they are looking around and don't see a deer, they totally freak out and run away.

I also suspect that if you do that, and the buck is more than a yearling, he's a bit smarter, and he will try to smell out another deer. If he does not, he gets spooked due to the fact that he can hear, but not smell another deer. (Makes sense to me)

I think deer are VERY smart when it comes to survival, and they can remember quite a bit even from the previous years.

I have a permanent ladder stand (Private property) and the deer USED to walk right by it. I got busted by what I think was a 2 year old Doe, and the following year she tended to look at me when running by. Also the traffic has changed since then too. I USED to get decent traffic within shooting distance, NOW they go up the hill about 50 yards, and the smarty-pants probably knows what they are doing!

smartypants LOL Heck yeah they knew exactly what they were doin. Same exact thing happened to me about 2 years ago, got busted by a large Doe and since then she'll look right at me when she gets up from her bed and starts feeding, all other deer traffic ceased and moved about 50 yards farther into the swamp.
