HUNTER FOUND IN BEAR SCAT
Analysis of bear scat found along the shore of a remote lake in Yukon Territory confirmed Bart Schleyer, a wildlife biologist and experienced hunter, was eaten by a grizzly bear. Schleyer disappeared in mid-September while moose hunting near the Reid Lakes. An initial search by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police found his camp along one of the lakes, but they didn't find Schleyer. Dib Williams, of Whitehorse, and Wayne Curry, a pilot from Pelly Crossing, found Schleyer's gear. Both thought the scene looked as if Schleyer could have gotten up and wandered away just minutes before. But they had an uneasy feeling, because they knew by then he'd been missing for days. | We had the same deal here in Montana about 3 years ago when they found pieces of a missing elk hunter in grizzly crap, the real clincher was when they found his elk tag in another pile. They found the remains of the hunter and his elk burried together under a huge mound of dirt, the griz was saving them for a midnight snack. |

I'll say it again, you have to be smarter than the average bear in bear country. |
