When I was 12 years old me and my father went down to texas and did a sika hunt near MountianHome Texas, the terain was much more difficult than I expected and it was quite an experience to see all the exotics, sika, axis, barbary sheep, rusian boar, orix, ect ect.The owners of the ranch are friends of my fathers and they invited us down to stay for a week and hunt sika,we were there in June and they were still in velvet,I thought we were going down to shoot an animal in a fenced field,I was very wrong,we hunted three days before we got into the two bucks we shot and we hunted hard for boar and never saw one that didnt have young so we never got a shot, that country is very difficult to hunt in it will wear you out.I am not a fan of canned hunts and would never do one on a "fenced field" type of ranch, these big texas ranchs arefree range and I would recommend the hunt to anyone, they have more sika and axis deer in Texas than the do in thier native countrys.

Sika meat is pretty good. It's not quite as good as axis meat but it's pretty close. It's very mild and, of course, pretty lean.

here is a sika taken near mountain home. I thought it gamier than whitetail and definitely gamier than fallow and axis.
