This was my all time favorite pointing dog, a real rebel that was a machine at finding bird's. When their gone I make a sepia photo of them.
This hunt was about 6 mos after a real tuff operation were the vet said he didn't think she'd even live, she is 13 yrs old here. My wife, my friend Jack and I hauled 6 dog's to Rae Creek near Heppner, Ore and I took her only because she thru a fit when I started loading up dog's.
So when we got there I let her out for one short hunt in this little creek botton where we usually found a few phesant's and the going was easy. Well she got her phesants but that wasn't enough for her. She knew that chukars and huns were uphill so up she went. And she found the birds too. This photo is a limit of huns. Tuff hill so she got put up, but she protested loudly. As it turned out, she was the only dog of six to find birds that trip. She was always my money dog but more than that, she was my best friend. I had to have her put to sleep the day befor her 16 th birthday. God I miss her. |
